Robert Rose

Studio
owner Robert Rose grew up with photography. When he was ten, Rob began
developing film and making prints in a home darkroom he set up with his
dad, Ken. Rob began working part-time in the studio at the age of 13.
Rob literally learned the business from the ground up, beginning with
folding price lists and sweeping the floors. While Rob was in high
school he assisted with some of the studio darkroom work, and by the
time he was eighteen he was in the camera room creating portraits. In
1985, Rob purchased the studio from his parents. Over 25 years of full
involvement in every aspect of studio operations gives Rob a unique
perspective on portrait photography and helps him create portraits that
are artistic and sensitive.
Rob is an active volunteer both locally and internationally. Locally,
Rob has volunteered for Bellevue Schools and Kindering Center, and has
been a member of
Bellevue Rotary since 1986.
Rob’s lifelong interest in
the people and culture of south Asia began when he was a Rotary exchange
student to Calcutta, India, during his junior year in High School. He
still enjoys exchanging visits with his two Indian “families.”
He has done extensive volunteer work for an orphanage in Nepal and has
raised money through Rotary grants to help orphaned, disabled and
disadvantaged children in Kathmandu, Nepal.
In 2005 Rob and his wife, Gina, founded
The Rose International Fund for Children, a nonprofit organization
which
benefits orphans and children with disabilities in developing countries.
Rob’s many charitable activities, both locally and internationally, have
earned him the prestigious ‘Four Avenues of Service Citation’ from
Rotary International, and in 2005 he was named Rotarian of the Year by
the Bellevue Rotary Club. Rob also donates portrait displays for the
Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and the Bellevue Philharmonic. These
displays tour downtown office buildings throughout the year.
Rob enjoys spending his
free time with his wife and
their sons
Aaron, Richard,
and Carey.

Len
Bordeaux

Professional
photographer Len Bordeaux
has created portraits on the tarmac at Sea-Tac Airport, on top of Crystal
Mountain, on a speedboat in Lake Union, and in many homes and offices
around Puget Sound.
Len began taking pictures with a Kodak Brownie camera
in 1954 and started photographing professionally in 1976. He owned and
operated Bordeaux Photography in downtown Seattle from 1980 to 1993,
specializing in studio and location portraits for families and
corporations. Len was active in the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce
and photographed many of the region’s most prominent business leaders as
well as families, children and pets.
After closing his studio, Len worked as a professional landscape
gardener on Bainbridge Island for two years before returning to
photography to work with internationally acclaimed portraitist Ken
Whitmire in Yakima, Washington.
While teaching at Ken’s International
Wall Portrait Conference, Len was recruited by Silvio Photographers in
Scottsdale, Arizona. Len enjoyed creating portraits among the saguaros
and chollas, but he found that he missed soft green trees, salt water
and rain. He joined Brant Photographers in 1998, and he is delighted to
be back in the Northwest.
Len has four grown children: two daughters and two sons. Len’s interests
include Buddhism, gardening and hiking. He facilitates several vipassana
meditation groups
in Seattle.
